Early this year I joined the board of C2Adopt, a local nonprofit that offers adoption support and placement. This organization’s mission has become particularly important to me as we’ve grown our own family. C2Adopt places adoptive and foster children with permanent families, and provides on-going counseling to the children and families. The story below is just one example of two siblings that C2Adopt is helping to find a permanent home.

    Susie and Ben:

When I was six and Ben was four our dad left us with the babysitter and didn’t come back.  Mom was in prison so we couldn’t go to her.  Eventually, we ended up with a foster family who had two other children and we thought they would adopt us.  But they decided they only wanted Ben and not me so I had to leave them and my brother.  I still don’t understand why.  That was over two years ago and we still don’t live together.  Now I am ten and Ben is eight.  He loves NASCAR and wants to be a NASCAR driver when he grows up.  I’m not sure what I want to do when I’m a grownup.  Right now, I just want to be with my brother, Ben.  I really want a mom and a dad who will love us both and take care of us.  It would be great if they have a pet, too.  I hope C2Adopt will find our forever family soon.
